Sesame Tofu
Ingredients:
1 package of tofu
1 tablespoon of thinly sliced ginger root
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
3 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons Pinot Noir or Merlot
1 tablespoon of water
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 diced cloves of garlic
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 teaspoon of ponzu
1 teaspoon of miso
Procedure:
Take 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds and mix in small bowl with 1/3 cup of starch and 2 teaspoons of water.
Cut tofu into large bite-size cubes. Soak these in the cornstarch and sesame seeds. After soaked for 5 minutes, sauté' in medium sized pan (with oil) until slightly brown (crispy). Drain from oil.
Take sliced ginger root and hammer into pulp. Place in bowl with soy sauce, sugar, wine, water, ponzu, and miso. Leave sit for 15 minutes.
On medium heat, place the oil and garlic in a medium-sized pan. Stir for 7 minutes. Add ginger seasoning mix. Stir again until boiling. Add the cornstarch and water mixture, stirring until the sauce thickens. Finally, add the tofu and carefully stir (do not break tofu) until the chunks are coated. Sprinkle on more sesame seeds if desired.
